Accessibility Statement

SilverGuard AI is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. As a company serving the aged-care sector, inclusion is not a checkbox — it is a core value embedded in everything we build.

Conformance Target

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) (opens in new tab) and reference resources from Hong Kong's Digital Policy Office (opens in new tab).

Accessibility Features

Accessibility Toolbar with 5 Colour Modes (配色)

A floating toolbar at the top-right of every page lets you switch between Default, Light Mode, Dark Mode, High Contrast Yellow-on-Black, and High Contrast Black-on-Yellow. All modes meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios. Choices persist across pages via localStorage.

Font Size Controls (字型 A- / A / A+ / A++)

Decrease, reset, or increase font size from the toolbar. Sizes range from 14 px to 24 px (up to 200% of base). The layout reflows gracefully and does not break at 200% zoom.

Increased Spacing Mode (佈局)

Toggle increased line-height (1.8×), letter-spacing, and word-spacing for users with dyslexia or low vision. Content adapts without loss (WCAG 1.4.12).

Skip-to-Content Link

A skip navigation link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to jump directly to the main content area.

Keyboard Navigation & Shortcuts

All interactive elements are fully operable via keyboard. Visible focus indicators are displayed on every focusable element. Alt+1–4 navigate to key pages, Alt+0 opens this Accessibility Statement, Alt+S skips to content.

Focus Trap on Mobile Menu & Modals

When the mobile navigation menu or a modal dialog is open, focus is trapped within it. Pressing Escape closes it and returns focus to the trigger button.

Semantic HTML & ARIA Landmarks

We use semantic HTML elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>) and appropriate ARIA attributes so screen readers can identify page regions accurately.

Reduced Motion

Animations are automatically disabled when the operating system's "Reduce Motion" preference is enabled. Framer Motion animations are globally suppressed via MotionGlobalConfig.

Colour-Blind Safe Design

Primary accent colours are chosen to be safe for protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia. Error states never rely on colour alone — they include icons and text labels (WCAG 1.4.1).

Autism & Dyslexia Friendly

Default mode uses off-white (#FAFAFA) to reduce glare. High-contrast modes mute pure yellow to #FFEB3B / #FFF9C4 to avoid overstimulation. Spacing mode provides comfortable reading for dyslexic users.

Accessible Forms

All form fields have visible labels, are programmatically associated with their labels, and provide clear error messages. Required fields are explicitly indicated. Autocomplete attributes are set.

Minimum Tap Targets (44 × 44 px)

Interactive elements meet a minimum size of 44 × 44 pixels, ensuring they are easy to tap on touch devices and usable for people with motor impairments.

Multi-Language Support

The site is available in English, Traditional Chinese (繁體中文), and Simplified Chinese (简体中文). The HTML lang attribute updates dynamically. The accessibility toolbar labels are bilingual.

Colour Contrast (4.5:1+ / 3:1+)

All text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and non-text elements). Dark mode achieves 15:1+, high-contrast modes achieve 19.6:1.

Print Styles

The site provides clean print output — the accessibility toolbar is hidden, colours are reset to black-on-white, and link URLs are shown inline.

Descriptive Link Text & Images

Links that open in new tabs are announced to screen readers. All images have descriptive alt text; decorative images use empty alt. Links are written to be meaningful out of context.

Elderly-Friendly Design

SilverGuard AI serves aged-care operators, so our website is designed with older adults in mind:

  • Large, adjustable text — default 16 px with one-click enlargement to 20 px or 24 px
  • Generous spacing and tap targets — buttons and links are at least 44 × 44 px
  • Reduced cognitive load — short sections, plain language, scannable bullet points
  • No flashy animations — motion is subtle and automatically disabled for users who prefer reduced motion
  • Clear navigation — consistent header and footer across all pages with logical heading hierarchy

Testing Methods

We test this website using a combination of automated and manual methods:

  • Automated scans with axe-core and Lighthouse Accessibility audit
  • Keyboard-only navigation testing across all pages
  • Screen reader testing with VoiceOver (macOS)
  • 200% browser zoom testing for layout reflow
  • Colour contrast validation for all text and interactive elements

Known Limitations

  • Some third-party embedded content (e.g. analytics charts) may not fully meet AA contrast requirements. We provide text alternatives where possible.
  • PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible. Contact us for alternative formats.

Digital Accessibility Recognition Scheme

This website is designed to meet the standards recognised by the Digital Accessibility Recognition Scheme (DARS / 數碼無障礙嘉許計劃) (opens in new tab) organised by the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC), co-organised by the Digital Policy Office (opens in new tab), with the Equal Opportunities Commission (opens in new tab) serving as independent advisor.

As a gerontech company serving elderly-care operators and their families, SilverGuard AI aims for the Gold Award and the Elderly-Friendly Award, reflecting our belief that digital inclusion is inseparable from our mission to protect and serve older adults. Our website incorporates five colour modes (Default, Light, Dark, High Contrast Yellow-on-Black, High Contrast Black-on-Yellow), adjustable text sizes with spacing toggle, colour-blind safe palettes, autism and dyslexia friendly design, keyboard-first navigation, reduced-motion support, and multi-language support (English, 繁體中文, 简体中文) to ensure that all users — regardless of age, ability, or language — can access our services and information.
